NOT A DONE DEAL
So BCC has approved its own development application. Surprise, Surprise!
Meanwhile the State Government is dragging its heels to who knows where.
The project cannot go ahead unless the Minister, Dr Anthony Lynham, whose department administers the Land Act (1994), approves an ‘additional purpose’ under the DOGIT (deed of Grant in trust) that has covered much of Mt Coot-Tha since 1880. Under the DOGIT the land is set aside for ‘a public park and no other purpose whatsoever’.
If Dr Lynham approves the draft Land Management Plan from BCC, then the approval of the ‘additional purpose’ goes with it.

Ziplines Update 2019
Brisbane City Council has approved its own development application to build a megazipline tourism complex on Mt Coot-tha.
Lord Mayor Quirk would have you believe that the project will go ahead.
BUT IT IS NOT A DONE DEAL
The MCPA intends to appeal this decision in the Planning and Environment Court (most likely with other groups and individuals who lodged submissions objecting to the DA). We have until March 14th to lodge an appeal.
The appeal process could take 1 to 2 years for a project of this size!
There is a long way to go yet. The application is on hold until such time as any appeal is determined. The Council’s DA approval is suspended for that time.
